The state government of Jammu and Kashmir has approved to
recruit 1200 assistant professors at the college level.
“Recruitments are on to ensure adequate number of staff in
all the colleges in the state. The government has also approved 1,200 posts of
assistant professors to augment the faculty at college level,” said Minister
for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik.
Also, in order to boost up the higher education space in the
state, the University Grants Commission released funds worth Rs 202 crore to
universities in the state. The funds that have increased by three-fold during
last three years will be utilized for developing campuses.
“The UGC has made Rs 117 crore and Rs 85 crore
available to Universities for the development of their campuses. There are
currently 97 colleges, 11 women colleges, 5 universities and 258 private
institutions in the state, ” said Malik.
A state advisory council on higher education has also been
constituted to monitor the consolidation of higher education in the state.
