Calicut University VC will not be removed: Education Minister

Kerala Education Minister, P K Abdu Rabb has said that
Calicut University Vice Chancellor, M Abdul Salam would not be removed from the
post. All the issues involving the VC, University Syndicate and the Muslim
League have been settled harmoniously.

Earlier, Calicut University Staff Organization (CUSO)
alleged that Calicut University VC and Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof K Ravindranath
conducted a re-test to help the daughter of PVC’s personal assistant pass the
BTech examination. Following this the Thrissur vigilance court had ordered a
probe on the allegations.

“There is nothing unusual about the pro-chancellor of a
university meeting the vice-chancellor, and no situation has arisen to remove the
Vice-Chancellor from the post,” said Abdu Rabb.

Reportedly, the Vice Chancellor has agreed to consider the
opinions of both the Education Department and the Muslim League leadership while
taking decisions regarding policy matters. It was also decided during the
meeting that the VC would take the Syndicate into confidence while exercising
his power.

The VC had removed the pro VC from the committee, and the
vacancy should be filled. The meeting has decided to include a new member in
the selection panel after talks with the IUML leadership, reported New Indian
Express
