Central University of Bihar to be set up in Gaya

The Central University in Bihar will be established in Gaya.
The Human Resource Development Ministry was in tussle with the state government
over the location of the university.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was insisting that the
university should come up in Motihari.

The university, one of the 14 such announced in early 2009,
currently operates out of a temporary campus in Patna and is struggling for
space. The HRD Ministry had been adamant on not shifting the university to
Motihari.

Established in 2009 under the Central
Universities Act, 2009, the university is headed by its founding Vice-chancellor is Janak Pandey,
the central university operates from a temporary campus on the grounds of Birla
Institute of Technology, Patna.
