Dr Pankaj Chande appointed Uttarakhand Sanskrit University VC

Dr Pankaj
Trimbak Chande has been appointed as the vice- chancellor of Uttarakhand
Sanskrit University in Haridwar. He completed his term at the Kavikulkguru
Kalidas Sanskrit University, Maharashtra recently.

He has
completed three terms of five years each as senior most Vice Chancellor in
India and former president of Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.

Speaking
exclusively to India Education Review, Prof Chande said that he would
understand the core objective of the Uttarakhand Sanskrit University and then
work accordingly.

“I have not
visited the university yet. I will take over the post and will understand the
core objectives of the university and then work accordingly. I will try and clear the backlog if at all it exists under the legal provision of the university,”
he said over the phone.

On being
asked whether he prefers academic role to that of an administrator, Chande
said “I find academic administration attractive and I have been one. Although I
prefer both the roles, pure administration is not something that I like.”

Replying to
absence of Uttarakhand Sanskrit University’s official website, he replied “This
is the era of action with publicity. Every education institution needs
visibility so we will try and set-up a website with unified efforts from the
faculty of the university.”
