Ericsson India and VGSOM, IIT, KHARAGPUR conduct Telecom Management Workshop

Taking a giant leap towards nurturing telecom talent for
India’s next telecom revolution, Ericsson today introduced the first of its
kind Telecom Management Workshop, in partnership with IIT Kharagpur’s – Vinod
Gupta School of Management – a premier MBA institute. The Workshop is an
extension of Ericsson’s Excel program famous for engineering based telecom
studies.

Prof K K Guin, Dean, Vinod Gupta School of Management
(VGSOM) – IIT Kharagpur said, “We are excited to partner with a global telecom
leader like Ericsson. This partnership will help us in imparting quality
education on the latest telecom technologies and related management skills.”

The four day certification curriculum includes General
Management, Project Management, Business Analysis, and Business Consulting with
a focus on IT Managed services, showcasing Ericsson’s global thought leadership
and over 100 years of presence in the Indian telecom market. The course may
eventually develop into a full-fledged elective in premier MBA colleges across
the country.

Fredrik Jejdling, Head of Region, Ericsson India, said
“Ericsson’s partnership with India will cross another milestone in furthering
education and talent. This partnership will be a catalyst to create
industry-ready professionals with far reaching impact, thus generating
employment opportunities for them”.

He further added “Ericsson initiated EXCEL program a few
years ago and we were enthralled to see the response. We look forward to
partner with more academic institutes in the country for superior industry
academia cooperation.”

Fredrik Jejdling is also the member of Telecom Skill Set
Council India (TSSC), an industry initiative to groom telecom skill set in
India.

By 2020, Ericsson sees a world with more than 50 billion connected
devices where India can play a significant role. A lot is possible if we can
help build skill sets. By partnering academic institutions, we can create a
talent readiness that will have far reaching impact.” Said Jejdling.

Mats Agervi, Managing Director of Ericsson India Global
Services, said “Collaboration with VGSOM-IIT Kharagpur to launch this program
is a testimony of Ericsson’s commitment to nurture local talent. We are
positive that with this program, we will be able to serve our customers in an
even better way.”

Second year students in a regular management program and
executive MBA trainees who wish to pursue a career in telecom, or specifically
with Ericsson are eligible to join the course.
