Interviews for ‘Fair and Lovely Foundation Scholarship 2011’ were held in Hyderabad recently. Out of 14000 applications received from across India for Scholarships, 30 per cent response came from Andhra Pradesh. Nationally 400 girls were selected out of 14000 applied for final screening. Off which 96 were invited from Andhra Pradesh today for the interviews at Hotel Taj Deccan.
An initiative of Fair & Love Foundation for empowering Women through Education, it has received tremendous response from 25 states from across India. Andhra Pradesh contributed more than 30 per cent applications with the balance 70 per cent coming from over 23 states.
Scholarships of up to Rs 1 lakh each are offered for any Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctorate Courses in India. This covers the total cost of education (including tuition fee plus over and above tuition fee) incurred by the candidates to complete their courses.
The eminent Hyderabad panelists comprised of Nandini Reddy – Director, Ala Modalaindi; Ajitha Reddy – MD, Hamstek Institute of Fashion and Interior Design; Prof. A Murlidhar Rao – Director, Women’s Studies Centre, Osmania University; Dr. Savithri – Prof. Economics, Nizam College; Prof Shanthi – Prof. Psychology and LLB; Bina K Rao – well known designer; Seshukumari, Director, SCERT and A R Anuradha – IPS- APHS.
The Fair & Lovely Foundation scholars are selected with the help of a unique screening-and-interview system that takes into account the candidates’ academic performance, economic background and also, the drive to excel.
This year, the interview-based selections are being held in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai and Indore. Finally scholarships will be awarded in Mumbai in November or December 2011.
