JIMS organizes International Conference on service Sector and Inclusive Growth

Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS) Group of
Institutions organized an International Conference on “Service Led Inclusive
Growth: To be or not to be?”

Present on the occasion were chief guests Ajay Chagti, Addl.
Secretary (Home), Delhi Government; and VKS Chauhan, Addl. Secretary
(Vigilance), Delhi Government along with Dr J K Goyal, Director, JIMS and Dr.
Madan Mohan, Dean, PGDM, JIMS. 

In the morning session, a panel discussion on ‘Service led
inclusive growth, a maze with devious routes and uncertain end or a path that
would yield the promise of overall development?’ was conducted. 

Prof. OP Chopra, Ex-Dean, Faculty of Management Studies
(FMS) was the moderator for the panel discussion.

Eminent speakers including Ajay Sahai, Director General
& CEO, Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO); Rajeev Gupta,
Council Member, European Business Group and Managing Director, Resource
Development International (I) (P) Ltd.; Rajesh Bansal, Assistant Director
General, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI); and Sruti Shankar,
Asst. General Manager, Reserve Bank of India also actively participated in the
discussion and shared their invaluable thoughts on the topic.  

Speaking on the occasion, K. Goyal, Director, JIMS said, “In
India, service sector accounts for 62 per cent of GDP and is currently the
fastest-growing sector of the economy, growing at 9 per cent per annum since
the mid-1990s. This sector has also proved its capacity to make a decisive
impact on the quality of life of the masses. The experiences shared by the
experts here at this platform are bound to help our students in understanding
how Indian service sector can contribute to the employment trends which can
trigger inclusive growth.”  

The conference was held at PHD House, August Kranti Marg,
New Delhi.
