Prof Gautam Sinha likely to become IIM Kashipur director

Prof Gautam Sinha
is likely to become the director of Indian Institute of Management-Kashipur.
It’s been a year since IIM-Bangalore Professor R. Srinivasan backed out from
the commitment of being the first director of the youngest IIM.

Sources said that
Sinha has assured the government that he will join as the director if the
appointment is finalized.

The selection
panel is said to have received close to 200 applications for the job. “His
name has been forwarded to the Cabinet for approval and it could take about a
month,” a ministry official said.

Prof Sinha is
currently heading the Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management in Dwarka,
New Delhi. He is a full-time professor at IIT-Kharagpur’s Vinod Gupta School of
Management, but is now on leave to run the Dwarka institute.

He has an
experience of about 25 years in the steel and engineering industry and
coauthored a book.
