Rangasamy complemented the PEC for being part of development of the UT over the years and wished the forthcoming new Technological University grand success in their entire endeavor.
Reportedly, 19 engineering colleges, now affiliated to the Pondicherry University, will be under the Pondicherry Technological University, which will function from the forthcoming academic year onwards.
The other technical institutions, like polytechnics, will also be brought under the University.
The curriculum will be updated in tune with the times and requirements, sources said and added that Pondicherry Technological University will have separate vice chancellor to lead the institution.
The Project Approval Board of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) has approved instantaneously a funding of Rs 55 crores towards the construction of buildings for the Pondicherry Technological University.
The Union Territory administration had given a proposal for the creation of a Technological University by the upgradation of existing Autonomous Pondicherry Engineering College through Directorate of Higher Technical Education, Government of Puducherry.
The recommendation under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) Plan was made in September 2015.
Pondicherry Engineering College is an Autonomous Institution fully funded by the Government of Pondicherry. The College was established in 1984 under the VII Five Year Plan, reported New Indian Express.
