The University Grants Commission (UGC) has warned candidates
of unscrupulous persons who approach principal investigators and students of
colleges/universities, promising them award of the research projects and
The notice was issued following a routine meeting convened
to evaluate the Minor Research Projects, Major Research Projects and Special
Assistance Programmes, as part of the UGC’s fund disbursing initiatives.
The conduct of such meetings, organised primarily to
interact with principal investigators/candidates, is an ongoing process.
The UGC notice stated that the process of evaluation and
selection of research projects is absolutely transparent, and that the result
are uploaded on the UGC’s website www.ugc.in.“The principal investigators/candidates
are hereby warned that they should not fall prey to the nefarious activities of
some companies/individuals who might try to defraud them by giving false
promises,” the notice stated.
“Any complaint, whatsoever, in this regard should be lodged
with the authorities concerned so that appropriate action could be taken
against the culprits,” UGC notice added.
